Dear Friends,
a few days later than what I told you, here I am writing to you some news which are not exactly positive. I am sorry to tell you that my relation with BMW has definitively interrupted and every chance to take part in any championship with a car of the Bavarian brand went with it. What a shame. My relation with the German manufacturer seemed to be indissoluble, nevertheless, this is what happened in a period with the economic downturn shaking daily many of the certainties that apparently regulated the world economy and it is certainly not the worst thing ever when compared to the situation of all those people that have really been knocked out by this crisis. Despite being extremely sorry for having to break up an association that awarded both sides with great satisfactions, I understand that these things happen. Still, during life it might also happen that when you lower your eyes to look for something you lost you end up finding something else worth collecting. We will see if this is going to be the case, even if I think that now it is really late to find shortly a valid agonistic alternative, I surely do not intend to hang up my racing helmet and I am hopeful that very nice cars will still be present in a more or less near future of mine. I am sincerely thankful to BMW for the path we covered together and I wish them all the best in their sportive programmes.

The opening round of the World Rally Championship 2010 saw the victory of Mikko Hirvonen in a Ford Focus WRC front usual Loeb in a Citroen C4 WRC. It was a tough battle between the two most likely contenders for the title, played in almost all tests on a few seconds of separation: the coup was launched on 14 ps by Hirvonen when he won 8 sec for a better tire choice, bringing to a total benefit of 14 sec, after which they became 23. The last day the positions are defined and after the first stage all have administered their own advantage. Great race for Marcus Gronholm that if he had not had major problems in the first day if he could safely play with the first: in PS 10 has even inserted between Loeb and Hirvonen, great Marcus! A climb up to the tenth position will be awarded 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1 point. Until the 2009 season, the distribution of points and ‘took place in the order 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.
